Deselectie van Ukraine staat te boek als zeer strong! That's not too crazy either, because a large number of players come from the well-known competitions in Europe. The voetballers spelen dan ook weekly matches in thePremier League,La Liga and other competitions.

Oekraïne wist zich niet direct te kwalificeren voor hetEK 2024. The Eastern European country finished in 3rd place in the qualifying group C. Ukraine moest zijn meerder erkennen in England and Italy. However, the team got an extra chance in the qualification, namely via the play-offs. Ukraine was waiting for a play-off meeting with Bosnia & Herzegovina. Serhij Stanislavovich Rebrov is the current national coach of the Ukraine football team. The trainer played in het verleden ook profvoetbal bij onder andere Shakhtar Donetsk, Dynamo Kiev,West Ham United enTottenham Hotspur. Daarnaast kwam Rebrov tot 75 wedstrijden in het shirt van Oekraïne.


In 2009, Rebrov joined Dynamo Kiev as a youth coach. In 2014 he even became head coach of the top club. Next, Rebrov was also active as head coach at Al-Ahli, Ferencvarosi and Al Ain FC. In 2023, Rebrov became the new coach of Ukraine.

Oekraïne was only allowed to participate in the Wereldkampioenschap voetbal once until now. The participation in the WK 2006 was equally impressive. The Oekraïense ploeg reached the eindtoernooi in Duitsland namely the quarterfinal.


Oekraïne finished in 2nd place in the group stage, just behindSpain. In the eighth final, Ukraine drew 0-0 against Switzerland. The Swiss team lost the first three penalties. In the quarter-final wasZwitserland, maar won het vervolgens alsnog na strafschoppen. De Zwitserse ploeg miste de eerste drie strafschoppen. In de kwartfinale was Italië een maatje te groot en verlor Ukraina met 3-0!
